Council is calling for community members to share their views on the future of growth in their town, to inform the development of an important strategy.

The ‘Your Town, Your Future’ Alpine Land Development Strategy aims to provide a clear framework to safely and sustainably accommodate forecast population and employment growth in the Alpine Shire to 2041.

Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas said the outcomes of the Strategy will guide Council’s future approach to land development and rezoning.

“This strategy will impact all of our residents, businesses and non-resident ratepayers,” she said.

“It will help guide the future of growth and development in your town, and the Alpine Shire more broadly.

“We strongly encourage anyone with an interest in the future of the Alpine Shire to take some time to learn about this project and complete our survey.

“Your ideas and comments will help to ensure the final document meets the needs of our growing community into the future.”

A Future Directions Paper and Summary have been prepared to break down this complex issue and encourage community members to share their views on the future of growth and development across the Alpine Shire.

Feedback will be used to develop the draft ‘Your Town, Your Future’ Alpine Land Development Strategy, which will be placed on public exhibition for further community comment in early 2023.

The final document will be adopted at a future Council Meeting.
