Residential Soft Plastics Recycling Program

Divert even more of your household waste from landfill by taking part in the Residential Soft Plastics Recycling Program!

What is the Residential Soft Plastics Recycling Program?

Residential households in Albury, Alpine Shire, Indigo Shire, and Wodonga are able to recycle their soft plastic waste by collecting their waste in an orange bag and placing the orange bag in their yellow-lidded kerbside recycling bin.

The orange bags are separated from the other kerbside recycling waste at the HalveWaste recycling centre, before being sent to a plastics processor for cleaning and treatment to make new plastic products.

The Residential Soft Plastics Recycling Program is an initiative led by Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia and supported by HalveWaste.

How do I recycle my soft plastics through the program?

  1. Register for the program by visiting our Council office in Bright or our Alpine Libraries or Visitor Information Centres in Bright, Mount Beauty, or Myrtleford.
  2. Receive your first 20 orange collection bags.
  3. Fill your orange bag with clean, empty, and dry soft plastics.
  4. When your orange bag is completely full, tie it off with a firm double knot and place in your yellow-lidded kerbside bin for collection.

What can and can't be recycled as part of the program?
