Easily manage your rates with flexible payment options, receive paperless notices, and find support services for financial hardship or counselling.

When do I pay my rates?

Annual valuation and rate notices are posted in August and reminder notices are issued prior to each instalment date.

Instalments are due on these dates:

  • 30 September
  • 30 November
  • 28 February
  • 31 May

Late or overdue payments will attract interest charges in accordance with the Local Government Act 1989. For more details, please refer to the reverse side of your rate notice.

Receive your rates notice by email

Ezybill gives you the convenience of receiving your quarterly rates notices via email. You will have access to your notices through the Ezybill portal from any electronic device 24 hours a day, making payment both easy and convenient.

Register for this easy option to manage your payments, save paper, and reduce waste.

Rates concessions

You may be eligible for a concession on your rates for your principal residence if you have a valid Pensioner Concession Card or a Department of Veteran Affairs Card.

Find out which concessions you may be eligible for by visiting the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.

If you are eligible, you may apply for a concession by filling out the Municipal Rates Concession application form and returning it to the Council office in Bright, or the libraries in Bright, Mount Beauty, or Myrtleford.

Please bring your Pensioner Concession or Department of Veteran Affairs Card.

Financial hardship

If you are having, or are going to have, trouble paying your rates, please contact us to discuss the options that are available to you. Our staff can help you to work out the best payment plan and will provide confidential advice.

We have a Financial Hardship Policy that explains what assistance is available to pensioners and ratepayers experiencing financial hardship and how applications are assessed. Copies of the policy are also available in hard copy at our Council office in Bright or any of our libraries in Bright, Mount Beauty, and Myrtleford.

A Rates Hardship Application Form is available. To apply, please complete the form and return it either via email to info@alpineshire.vic.gov.au or by post to Alpine Shire Council, PO Box 139, Bright VIC 3741.

You can also return it in person at one of our Customer Service Centres located at the Council office in Bright, or any of our libraries in Bright, Mount Beauty, and Myrtleford.

Financial counselling services

Financial counselling is a free and confidential service offered by community organisations, community legal centres, and some government agencies.

National Debt Helpline

National Debt Helpline is a not-for-profit Government Service providing confidential financial counselling for Victorians experiencing hardship.

You can contact the National Debt helpline to request a referral to see a financial councillor at your local financial counselling service.

Changing your name or address

Let us know if you change your contact details by filling out our change of name or address form online at My Alpine.

Applying for property information

You can apply for land information, including the conditions of the property. 

When filling out the form, you must be precise as insufficient information will result in the return of your application. A copy of title and location plan showing dimensions of the property and the distance from the nearest road intersection must be attached to your application.
