Preparing with babies and children

When you involve everyone in your household in conversations around emergencies, you are giving them the knowledge and skills to cope and recover.

Breastfeeding in emergencies

Australian Breastfeeding Association has videos available for parents of babies and toddlers to help you plan for emergencies, including the best ways to feed during emergencies when your children may be fussier or less interested in feeding.

They have specific information for babies who are breastfeeding, feeding with expressed breastmilk, having some formula, and are older than six months.

Play School Everyday Helpers

Play School has a series of videos that can help you involve your children to prepare for emergencies, including creating an emergency plan and packing an emergency sack.

Triple Zero Kids' Challenge

Help your children become confident and responsible users of the Triple Zero emergency services number through the Triple Zero Kids’ Challenge, an interactive game-based program that teaches children how to contact police, fire, or ambulance services.

Red Cross resources for parents and caregivers

Red Cross has information to help parents and caregivers help their children to prepare for emergencies before they happen and recover once they have occurred.
