From time to time, road works, projects, and events require the partial or complete closure of roads within the Alpine Shire.

Current and upcoming road closures and changes

Bright Make it Bake it Grow it Monthly Market

6am 1.30pm every 3rd Saturday of the month.

The Howitt Park Soundshell car park will be closed to allow for the safe staging of the monthly market.

Barwidgee Creek Rail Trail Bridge

The Barwidgee Creek Rail Trail Bridge will be closed from 23 June 2025 to allow for deck replacement works. The closure is expected to last 4-5 days, weather dependent.

During this period, users of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail travelling from Myrtleford towards Wangaratta are advised to begin their journey after crossing Barwidgee Creek, starting from Howell Lane.

Dargo High Plains Road

The Dargo High Plains Road is now closed and will reopen in Spring 2025.

We have a regular schedule of road and bridge management works to ensure the vital infrastructure in the Alpine Shire is maintained, along with many major road and bridge projects.
