At last night's Ordinary Council Meeting, Alpine Shire Council adopted their 10-year Community Vision and four-year Council Plan, which incorporates their four-year Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Councillors also noted the Council Plan Action Plan 2025-2029, which was developed in response to community feedback received during the 28-day public exhibition period following the April Ordinary Council Meeting.
Alpine Shire Council Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, celebrated the achievement of this milestone for the sitting group of Councillors and the local communities of Alpine Shire.
"As a group, we are incredibly proud of our Council Plan 2025-2029 and the underpinning Action Plan, and look forward to its implementation," she said.
"We understand that strategic documents can be so high-level that they don't set out the detail that people are looking for when it comes to actions for their communities."
Cr Nicholas said that, to promote transparency and accountability, Council developed their underpinning Action Plan 2025-2029 to map out key actions to deliver the Plan.
"With our Action Plan 2025-2029, we are able to highlight what we'll be working on over the next four years, the steps required to get there, and what success looks like," she said.
As a result of the constructive feedback received during the public exhibition period, Council revised their measures of success to outline clear targets over the four-year period.
The Action Plan identifies Council's commitments to communities over the life of the Council Plan 2025-2029. It will be reviewed annually to capture contemporary priorities.
It will remain available to the public throughout implementation.
The Council Plan 2025-2029 was prepared through a process of broad public consultation, including market pop-ups and community drop-ins across a number of townships, surveys distributed both digitally and available at libraries and Visitor Information Centres, and targeted workshops with a number of key stakeholder groups, including young people and a deliberative panel of community members from across Alpine Shire.
Cr Nicholas thanked every person who contributed to the creation, development, and review of the Council Plan 2025-2029.
"As a Council, we all extend our sincerest thank you to every member of our community who had their say on our Plan over the past 11 months, from sharing their views at our market pop-ups, to forming part of our Community Panel, to taking the time to submit feedback during our public exhibition period," she said.
"It is an immense job to bring together the aspirations of our diverse and geographically dispersed communities, and we believe that our Council Plan 2025-2029 will lead us all into a robust, thriving and sustainable future that reflects the diversity of our Alpine Shire communities."
The Council Plan 2025-2029 and Action Plan 2025-2029 is available for public view on Council's website, as well as in-person at libraries and Visitor Information Centres across Bright, Mount Beauty, and Myrtleford.
