Our major plans and strategies guide our operations in line with our Council Plan and other strategic documents.
Affordable Housing Action Plan
Housing affordability and availability is a significant issue that is expected to continue to impact the economy and housing security in Alpine Shire.
Together with UrbanXchange, we developed the Key Worker Housing Pilot project and Affordable Housing Analysis and Action Plan to highlight opportunities that could be progressed to overcome some of the affordable housing issues.
We acknowledge and thank the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) for funding this project as part of the Regional Hubs Program.
Climate Action Plan
We recognise the vulnerability of our region’s natural and built environment, economic prosperity, and health of the community to climate change. In 2019, we declared a climate emergency, acknowledging the need for urgent and extensive action to ensure a safe climate for current and future communities and ecosystems.
Following on from our Climate Action Plan 2021-2024, our current plan highlights our renewed commitment to environmental sustainability and represents our updated response to the climate emergency.
Economic Development Strategy
Our Economic Development Strategy (EDS) provides strategic direction to maintain and develop thriving and resilient local economies into the future.
The Strategy is informed by independent research and analysis, and was developed in consultation with representatives of community groups, organisations, businesses, and government stakeholders.
Drawing on the comparative advantages of our region, the EDS focuses on ways to support, grow, and stabilise existing businesses in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, education, and health, as well as attract new businesses that are suited to the values and attributes of Alpine Shire.
Gender Equality Action Plan
Our Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) outlines the initiatives that our organisation will implement to achieve gender equality and inclusiveness in our workplace.
Gender equality and inclusiveness in our workplace will be achieved when all our staff, present and future, have equal access to resources, opportunities, and rewards within our organisation, regardless of their gender and social identity.
Our GEAP has been developed through the legislative framework of the Gender Equality Act 2020 and Local Government Act 2020.
