The long-awaited construction of Myrtleford Memorial Hall started this week, which will bring about footpath management in front of the Hall on Myrtle Street.

Site fencing has been erected around the facility with detour signs in place to ensure safe passageway via alternative routes.

The Myrtleford Neighbourhood Centre will continue its normal operations during the construction period, maintaining their regular opening hours. An alternative entrance has been provided, with signage posted outside of the Centre.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, said that this was a defining moment for the Myrtleford Memorial Hall, which has been unused for over ten years.

"It is very exciting to see the hard work of Council staff and the Community Reference Group come together at this construction phase," she said.

"This has been a long time coming for the Myrtleford community and we're thrilled to be one step closer to delivering this facility back to the people who will treasure it most."

External and internal works will be completed by Joss Facility Management Pty Ltd, who were awarded the contract at the January Ordinary Council Meeting.
