In 2023, Council asked community members across Alpine Shire to help shape the design for the Bright Skate Park.

Community members were able to contribute to the design online via a survey on Council's digital engagement platform, Engage Alpine, or in-person at either a drop-in session held at the Bright Skate Park or a design workshop held at the Bright Community Centre.

Council awarded the contract for the redevelopment at the October Ordinary Council Meeting, with works anticipated to begin on-site in January 2026.

The design will include replacement of the existing steel ramp, surface and crack repairs, and important works to ensure appropriate drainage and erosion control.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, said that she was excited to see the vision of the Bright Skate Park come to life.

"Skate parks have always been a valued part of our communities here in Alpine Shire," she said.

"While the Bright Skate Park was originally built in 1998, skate parks have progressed in design and are now becoming more inclusive of scooters, rollerblades, and BMX bikes.

"There has been significant community interest and drive to improve the Bright Skate Park over the years, and it is terrific that will are now moving forward on this project to ensure that all skate park users can learn and progress in a safe and innovative environment. "

A sign announcing the works will be installed on-site in late November.

The redevelopment of the Bright Skate Park has been generously funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria.
