Funding success for community infrastructure through Tiny Towns Fund

10 community groups and organisations have been successful in their applications for the Victorian Government's Tiny Towns Fund Rounds 1 and 2, which have provided crucial funding to enhance community infrastructure across Alpine Shire.

Alpine Shire Council congratulates the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Fund Ltd, Bright Chamber of Commerce Inc., Bright District U3A Inc., Dederang Mount Beauty Football Netball Club Inc., Dinner Plain Community Association, Gundowring Hall & Reserve Committee, Harrietville Hall Committee of Management, Harrietville Off Road Cycling, and Mount Beauty Amateur Swim Club on their successful applications.

Council was also successful in its application to upgrade storage facilities for the Bright United Football and Netball Club.

Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, applauded the recipients of the funding, noting that some of the projects are already underway.

"It is fantastic to see some of the projects, such as the storage shed for the Mount Beauty Amateur Swim Club at the Mount Beauty Swimming Pool, are starting construction this month," she said.  

"This is a much-appreciated opportunity for community groups and organisations to seek funding that benefits both their members and the wider communities across Alpine Shire."

The Tiny Towns Fund is an initiative of Regional Development Victoria and aims to improve amenities and foster a stronger sense of community across regional and rural towns with populations below 5,000 people.  

These projects will deliver better facilities across Alpine Shire, providing essential infrastructure that supports the wellbeing and engagement of residents.

Successful applicants for Round 1 include:

> Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Fund Ltd | $40,328 for the Myrtleford Community Resilience Leadership Program

> Bright District U3A Inc. | $50,000 to improve outdoor areas at the Bright Senior Citizens' Centre

> Dederang Mount Beauty Football Netball Club Inc. | $50,000 for lighting upgrades at Dederang Oval

> Harrietville Hall Committee of Management | $50,000 for improvements to entry, access, and parking at the Harrietville Community Hall

> Mount Beauty Amateur Swim Club Inc. | $46,025 for storage facilities improvement project

Successful applicants for Round 2 include:

> Alpine Shire Council | $17,104 to upgrade storage facilities for the Bright United Football and Netball Club

> Bright Chamber of Commerce Inc. | $18,160 to illuminate Ireland Street

> Dinner Plain Community Association | $41,025 for the Dinner Plain Community Garden

> Gundowring Hall & Reserve Inc. | $16,088 for a storage facility at Gundowring Hall and reserve

> Harrietville Off Road Cycling | $37,300 for Harrietville Trails Master Plan
