Alpine Shire Council is inviting community members to have their say on the draft Library Services Plan 2026–2030, now on public exhibition.
The Plan provides a clear strategic direction for how library services will be delivered across the Alpine Shire over the next four years, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of local communities.
Alpine Shire Mayor, Cr Sarah Nicholas, said libraries play a vital role in fostering connection, learning and wellbeing across the region.
“Our libraries are at the heart of our communities - they’re places where people come together to learn, connect and access important services,” she said.
“This draft Plan builds on strong community feedback and sets out a practical, forward-looking approach to delivering library services in a small regional setting.”
The draft Plan has been informed by community input, including a recent survey that showed 99 per cent of respondents were satisfied or very satisfied with Alpine Libraries.
“We’re proud of the high level of satisfaction with our library services, and we want to build on that success,” Cr Nicholas said.
“We’re now encouraging everyone in our community to take a look at the draft Plan and let us know what matters most to them.”
The Plan also recognises the dual role of libraries in Mount Beauty and Myrtleford as Customer Service Centres, ensuring services remain accessible, efficient and aligned with Council’s customer experience goals.
Community feedback will be considered before the final Plan is presented for adoption.
Community members can view the draft Plan and provide feedback:
