Abbeyards Road and Buckland Valley Road closed due to bushfire

Forest Fire Management Victoria and Alpine Shire Council have closed Abbeyards Road to Lake Buffalo and Buckland Valley Road due to bushfires.

Visitor sites are also closed, including free camp sites. 

Road closure signage has been placed at the following locations to advise drivers of the closures:

  • Abbeyards Road at the intersection of Abbeyards Road, Buffalo River Road, and Rose River Road.
  • Buckland Valley Road from Buckland Cemetery. 

The roads will remain closed with signage in place until Forest Fire Management Victoria advises that they can be reopened.

Council strongly recommends that all residents and visitors download the VicEmergency app and set up Watch Zones for the area so that they can keep up to date with the latest alerts.

All residents and visitors are also urged to follow the following State Government authorities via their websites and social media accounts to inform their personal Bushfire Plans:

  • VicEmergency and VicEmergency - Hume
  • Country Fire Authority (CFA)
  • VicTraffic

If travelling, emergency broadcasts can be accessed via ABC Goulburn Murray and Alpine FM.

  • ABC Goulburn Murray | 89.7FM in Bright, 91.7FM in Myrtleford, and 106.5FM in Albury-Wodonga and Wangaratta
  • Alpine FM | 96.5FM in the Kiewa Valley and 92.9FM in the Ovens Valley
