Expressions of Interest are now open for Alpine Shire residents interested in joining the Alpine Community Recovery Committee (CRC).
The CRC will represent bushfire-affected communities across Alpine Shire, ensuring that local know-how and expertise are at the forefront of longer-term recovery planning.
The Committee will comprise representatives drawn from each of the Myrtleford, Bright, Harrietville, Dinner Plain, Kiewa Valley, Mount Hotham and Falls Creek communities.
Alpine Shire Mayor Peter Roper encouraged communities to talk about who they would like to represent their views on the CRC.
He also encouraged community members to apply, saying this was an opportunity to be front and centre in future recovery planning.
“Our people and businesses are in the best position to understand the needs of our local communities," Mr Roper said.
“The Community Recovery Committee will ensure our people are in control of a bushfire recovery process tailored to our own needs and aspirations.”
Bushfire Recovery Victoria is working with Alpine Shire Council to support the establishment and operation of the Community Recovery Committee.
