Alpine Shire Council is developing the Alpine Events Strategy and Action Plan to provide direction for the management and delivery of events into the future.

The strategy will be developed in consultation with the Alpine Shire community and industry.

Alpine Shire Council Manager Community and Economic Development Elaine Burridge said the strategy aims to support the sustainable delivery of events in the Alpine Shire.

“We recognise there is a need in some areas to create a balance between events growth and amenity for communities,” she said.

“Each township experiences different numbers and types of events each year and will have different views on how events should be managed.

“To ensure we hear from as many people as possible, we will establish a number of reference groups, engage one-on-one with key stakeholders and launch a community survey aimed at capturing as many responses as possible.”

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from community members, local business operators and event organisers to join a Project Reference Group.

Successful respondents will be required to participate in three workshops at key project milestone dates.

EOIs close Monday, 9 November at 10am.

A community-wide survey will be available in mid-November.
