The annual Alpine Shire Australia Day Community Awards celebrate the often unsung heroes of our communities.

Alpine Shire Mayor John Forsyth said the awards are a fantastic way to discover many of the ways that residents are contributing to their community.

“The candidates for these awards show that so many residents are doing great things - whether that’s excelling in their chosen field, giving back to the community, showing great strength and resilience or helping our towns thrive,” he said.

“Australia Day is our opportunity to learn more about these people and recognise them for their contribution to the Alpine Shire that we know and love.

“These awards are an opportunity to celebrate not only our award recipients, but all of those who were nominated, and the many more who remain the quiet achievers in our communities.”

Community members and visitors are invited to join in Australia Day celebrations being held across the Alpine Shire on Thursday, 26 January 2023.

“Pop down to your nearest family-friendly event to enjoy a barbecue breakfast or morning tea and help us recognise those people that make the Alpine Shire great,” Cr Forsyth said.
