Nominate someone deserving today

The annual Alpine Shire Australia Day Community Awards recognise local residents who dedicate their time and skills to benefit their community.

05 November 2021

Nominations for the awards are now open, and community members are encouraged to nominate someone who deserves to be celebrated.

Award winners will be announced at COVIDSafe Australia Day events across the Alpine Shire on Wednesday, 26 January 2022.

Cr John Forsyth said this year in particular there are plenty of people in need of a boost.

“The past few years have been challenging for everyone,” he said.

“Many of us know a special person who deserves recognition for their commitment, positivity, hard work and resilience in the face of hard times.

“As long as COVID restrictions permit, we will come together for community events on January 26 to recognise our award winners and celebrate what it means to be Australian.”

Categories for the awards are:

  • Local Achiever of the Year
  • Local Young Achiever of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Organisation of the Year

A Local Achiever and Young Achiever of the Year will be awarded for Bright and District, Myrtleford and District and the Kiewa Valley.

From these winners, an overall ‘Alpine Shire Citizen of the Year’ will be awarded by the selection panel.

Nomination forms detailing award criteria are available from Alpine Shire Council Customer Service Centre in Bright and Council’s website.

Nominations close at 5pm Friday, 3 December 2021.
