Lockdown extended

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced the current lockdown will be extended.

02 September 2021

Metropolitan Melbourne will see lockdown extended to around 23 September, or until 70 per cent of Victorians have had at least one dose of vaccine.

The Victorian Government will decide next week if restrictions can be eased in parts of regional Victoria.

Changes to Council customer-facing facilities and services:

  • From Friday 3 September playgrounds will re-open – with strict rules to keep everyone safe.
  • Playgrounds will be for children under 12 with only one parent or carer, and adults should not remove their masks to eat or drink.
  • Playgrounds will also have QR codes for checking in.

Getting vaccinated has never been more important. Book your vaccination appointment by visiting portal.cvms.vic.gov.au or by phoning the Coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398.

It’s fantastic to see that our communities are doing their bit, with vaccination rates for the Alpine Shire above the State average. Data from the Australian Government shows that of the 10,732 Alpine Shire residents over the age of 16 years, 67.1% have received their first vaccination, and 39.6% have received a second (data as at 27 August).

If you haven’t already, please make an appointment and get vaccinated, so we can all start getting back to the life we love.
