Mr Bird, who was appointed CEO in August 2017, submitted his resignation to Council this month.

Mayor Peter Roper said Mr Bird advised Council that he will be returning to private enterprise.

Cr Roper said Mr Bird had successfully delivered many significant projects in the Shire over the past few years.

“Through his excellent work the area's town centres have been greatly enhanced,” he said.

"I am disappointed Charlie has resigned as CEO and we will now move to advertise the position.

“Charlie has been at the Alpine Shire for nearly five years, the past two and half as CEO, and leaves a legacy of many projects completed on time and on budget.

“Charlie is results-driven and has shown strong leadership during his time here.

“I know Council has enjoyed working with him to deliver key projects and services to our community.

“On behalf of all Councillors, I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Mr Bird said he is looking forward to re-establishing his consulting business and spending more time with his family.

“The opportunity to work with the community in a stunning location has been hugely rewarding,” he said.

“I’ve enjoyed working with a fantastic team of people to deliver incredible outcomes for our community.”

Mr Bird’s final day as CEO will be March 10, 2020.
