2023-24 Community Grants Program

Community groups and organisation provide vital services and support to Alpine Shire residents. Alpine Shire Council is committed to supporting these valuable activities through the Community Grants Program.

Funding for tourism events which provide opportunities for increased tourism in the region can be found on the Event Funding page.


Funding for Community Events

The Community Recovery Committee Support Package funding for Community Events is now open, and community groups are encouraged to apply.

The funding aims to support local events that encourage community connectedness and wellbeing.

Eligible examples of events include:

  • Events that bring communities together for social purposes
  • Events with a focus on personal and community health and wellbeing
  • Events with a focus on preparedness and resilience
  • Events that build community skills and capability
  • Community preparedness workshops
  • Skills workshops

Applications will be assessed on a range of factors, including capacity to build beneficial partnerships within the community, accessibility and inclusion, suitability of the event within the community and the event’s impact on strengthening community networks and resilience.

Up to $500 is available per community group to deliver a community event, with a total funding pool of $20,000.

This event funding is provided from the Community Recovery Committee Support Package for Local Government Authorities’ through the ‘Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)’, a Commonwealth-State cost-sharing arrangement.

Administered by Alpine Shire Council, this funding is designed to provide financial support to locally led and responsive programs that support the recovery of communities in Victoria’s bushfire affected regions.

Events must be completed and acquitted by 31 May 2023.

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s (FRRR) operate a number of grants programs to benefit Australia’s rural, regional and remote communities.

Grants Victoria is a directory of Victorian Government grants and assistance applicable to individuals, businesses and communities.

Into Our Hands Foundation 

Into Our Hands Foundation was established after the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009. It is a community foundation that invests in projects and initiatives aimed at building the capacity, strength, cohesiveness and wellbeing of the many smaller communities within the Shires of Alpine, Indigo and Wangaratta. Special emphasis is given to projects and initiatives within the communities of Barwidgee Creek, Bruarong, Dederang, Gundowring, Kancoona, Mudgegonga, Murmungee, Rosewhite, Running Creek and Stanley.

Our Community 

Our Community provides advice, tools, resources and training in relation to fundraising and grants for not-for-profit organisations and schools as well as businesses and individuals

Sport and Recreation Victoria 

Sport and Recreation Victoria provide a range of grants and funding to support sport and recreation in Victoria from local community clubs through to the elite level.

WAW Credit Union 

WAW support groups within our community either via financial sponsorship agreements or through contributions of goods and services. Additionally, WAW support regional programs that deliver positive educational, medical or safety outcomes to the community.

Regional Development Victoria

Regional Development Victoria (RDV) is the Victorian Government’s lead agency in developing rural and regional Victoria. RDV’s focus is on investment attraction, job creation, exports, creating stronger economies, communities and infrastructure to create a strong and growing regional and rural Victoria.
