We value the work of community groups and organisations and are committed to supporting your important activities in arts and culture, sport and recreation, community events, strengthening initiatives, and environmental efforts.

2025/26 Community Grants Program

Community groups and organisation provide vital services and support to Alpine Shire residents. We are committed to supporting these valuable activities through the Community Grants Program.  

Our annual Community Grants Program opens for applications in May each year. All community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for funding. 

All applications are strongly advised to read the Community Grants Program Guidelines using the links below and ensure they meet the eligibility criteria prior to submitting an application.

Applications must be submitted online via SmartyGrants using the link below. 

SmartyGrants provides a Help Guide for Applications and Applicant FAQs on their website. Information provided includes how to set up a SmartyGrants account, how to navigate the application form, and general troubleshooting topics. 

The 2025/26 Community Grants Program is now closed. Applications closed at 5pm on Monday, 16 June 2025.

Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal | The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s (FRRR) operate a number of grants programs to benefit Australia’s rural, regional, and remote communities.

Grants Victoria | Grants Victoria is a directory of Victorian Government grants and assistance applicable to individuals, businesses, and communities.

Into Our Hands Foundation | Into Our Hands Foundation was established after the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009. It is a community foundation that invests in projects and initiatives aimed at building the capacity, strength, cohesiveness, and wellbeing of the many smaller communities within the Alpine and Indigo Shires and City of Wangaratta. Special emphasis is given to projects and initiatives within the communities of Barwidgee Creek, Bruarong, Dederang, Gundowring, Kancoona, Mudgegonga, Murmungee, Rosewhite, Running Creek, and Stanley.

Our Community | Our Community provides advice, tools, resources, and training in relation to fundraising and grants for not-for-profit organisations and schools as well as businesses and individuals.

Sport and Recreation Victoria | Sport and Recreation Victoria provide a range of grants and funding to support sport and recreation in Victoria from local community clubs through to the elite level.

WAW Credit Union | WAW support groups within our community either via financial sponsorship agreements or through contributions of goods and services. Additionally, WAW support regional programs that deliver positive educational, medical, or safety outcomes to the community.

Regional Development Victoria | Regional Development Victoria (RDV) is the Victorian Government’s lead agency in developing rural and regional Victoria. RDV’s focus is on investment attraction, job creation, exports, creating stronger economies, communities, and infrastructure to create a strong and growing regional and rural Victoria.

Grants Victoria | Grants Victoria is a directory of Victorian Government grants and assistance applicable to individuals, businesses, and communities.

Business Victoria | If you are looking for financial support, advice, or education, and training programs to help you improve your business, the Victorian Government can assist you through a range of funding and support services.

Business.gov.au | Business.gov.au offers programs designed to help Australian businesses of all sizes and industries improve productivity and competitiveness, and create jobs.
