Digital connectivity in Alpine Shire is an integral issue in our region, impacting locals, visitors, and businesses - especially during emergencies - and is vital for the development of our communities and economy.
Mobile Internet Adapting to Alpine Valley Capacity Issues and Beyond 2025
In 2026, we developed our Mobile Internet Adapting to Alpine Valley Capacity Issues and Beyond 2025 and associated Action Plan for Digital Connectivity in Alpine Shire.
The report identified issues with mobile coverage and capacity, with specific focus on network overloading in major townships, such as Bright, during periods of high visitation. The action plan was developed alongside the report to address infrastructure investment, strategic advocacy, and partnerships.
Telecommunications (Mobile and Internet) Strategy 2022
In 2022, we developed a Telecommunications (Mobile and Internet) Strategy to document the current state of our telecommunications network and identify areas for future investment.
The strategy was developed after the Black Summer Bushfires 2019/20, which highlighted a need to examine the resilience of digital infrastructure across Alpine Shire and assess the reliability of facilities during emergency events.
This strategy was a major initiative in the Alpine Shire Community Vision 2040 and Council Plan 2021-2025.
