Community Infrastructure Needs Analysis

Council recognises the importance of community infrastructure in supporting and strengthening local communities, providing spaces for interaction and community events, and facilitating participation and engagement in public life.

Project Background

The availability of a range of social, educational, sporting and recreational activities provides a foundation for social connection and belonging, reducing the risk of social isolation and the development of concomitant issues.

Council will shortly be seeking to employ the services of a consultant to prepare a community infrastructure needs assessment (CINA) for Alpine Shire.

The CINA will provide a cohesive understanding of community infrastructure needs within Alpine Shire and integrate those needs in Council’s future strategic land use planning.

The assessment will focus on key areas critical to the well-being and development of the community. The assessment will be instrumental in informing future land use planning and investment decisions.

Key areas for review in the assessment are as follows:

  1. Early year facilities
  2. Health/community support services and facilities
  3. Education facilities
  4. Cultural facilities/community centres/meeting spaces
  5. Recreation and sporting facilities
  6. Kindergarten Infrastructure and Services Plan Data
  7. Underutilised Council land or facilities

Project Study Area

The project will include the whole area of Alpine Shire and all relevant facilities contained within the Shire.
