How you'll make a difference
An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and dedicated Youth Development Officer to work as part of our Community Development team. You will foster professional working relationships with young people and external stakeholders including community groups and state/federal government agency staff to assist in the delivery of projects, programs and initiatives on behalf of Council and/or the community.
As part of our team, you will:
- Effectively engage with young people from a variety of backgrounds.
- Engage with schools, community groups and the business community to improve opportunities and outcomes for young people in Alpine Shire Council.
- Act as a conduit between young people and Alpine Shire Council.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of young people.
- Facilitate the development of skills and opportunities for young people.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of programs, events, and opportunities for young people in the Alpine Shire.
- Attend youth events and programs as a representative of Council.
- Ensure all events, programs and initiatives delivered are safe and welcoming for young people.

Please note, as part of the position requirements you will be required to work weekend and “youth friendly” hours from time to time.
