Our fast-paced development engineering department supports the delivery of community amenity whether it is upgrading transport corridors, enhancing stormwater systems, or designing public amenity, we believe in engineering assessment with purpose and precision.
The Impact You'll Make
In this permanent role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering planning referral assessments, construction phase inspection/supervision for developments, and provide in-house advice and consultation. Your expertise will help shape designs, solve complex site challenges, and ensure equitable and accessible community amenity is considered to support Alpine Shire for future generations. The work you do will leave a legacy for years to come.
What You'll Do
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Oversee contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with planning requirements and applicable regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, resolve engineering issues, and provide technical guidance to project teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including local authorities, community representatives, and environmental specialists.
- Support and manage traffic related engineering enquiries.
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in civil infrastructure design review and infrastructure site inspection.
- Ideally within local government or public works.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, codes, and WHS/Environmental requirements.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

- Alpine Shire Council 2023 Enterprise Agreement.
- Full time Band 7A annual salary: $100,353 (pro rata for part time), plus leave loading & superannuation.
- Monthly RDOs for a full-time position.
