About the project

The Tawonga Community Hall is located at 44 Kiewa Valley Highway, Tawonga, and was constructed in the late 1950s, opening in 1961.

It is a valuable community asset, supporting general community events and gatherings for residents and businesses in the local area and adjoining communities.

Council secured funding through Bushfire Recovery Victoria to upgrade the hall to meet current building standards, increase its economic and social benefit to the community by improved facilities, and meet the user requirements by ensuring that the proposed building use complies with current building standards and requirements.

The renovations will also aim to boost community use and amenity and provide overnight dormitory-style accommodation for school and community groups; it is proposed that accommodation capacity should be up to 60 individuals staying overnight.

To provide for the accommodation requirements, it is necessary to install shower facilities and increase the toilet facilities.
