Alpine Shire Council is developing a Bushfire Risk Management Plan for Dinner Plain village in response to the 2019-2020 fires.

The plan has been funded by the State Government’s response to the 2019-20 Bushfires through the Council Support Program.

Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas said consultants Practical Ecology have been engaged to conduct an independent assessment of Dinner Plain village with the goal of assessing bushfire risk and hazards.

“This will include reviewing previous reports conducted for the Alpine resorts of Mount Hotham and Falls Creek,” she said.

“As part of the plan’s development, Dinner Plain ratepayers, residents, and business owners are encouraged to attend online workshops.

“Your views and experience are really important to ensure we get this planning right.”

These workshops aim to:

  • Identify community concerns around managing bushfire risk in Dinner Plain
  • Gain feedback on what possible actions will help mitigate these risks
  • Provide an overview of recent work done by Practical Ecology to identify bushfire risk and hazards in Dinner Plain.

The online sessions were originally planned for June, but postponed until later in the year to avoid the height of the snow season.

The sessions will be professionally facilitated, using interactive processes and small group breakout discussions.

Council staff will provide an overview of the project to date and outline initial work done by Practical Ecology to identify bushfire risks in and around the village.

Please attend the workshop which best suits you (both workshops will be the same):
