Council releases quarterly report

14 August, 2014

A GROWING reach for its social media communication, solar energy installation at the Bright Sports Centre and improved connection with older residents are some of the highlights of the Alpine Shire Council Plan Quarterly Report for April – June 2014.

The Alpine Shire Council Plan 2013 – 2017 was developed following the election of Council in October 2012.

Quarterly Reports bring together highlights from the quarter, providing residents and other stakeholders with up to date information on how Council is performing against the Plan.

Chief Executive Officer Dave Barry said this final quarter for the 2014/15 financial year showed strong progress on the delivery of some Council Plan Activities, with many of them complete.

“Highlights include an increasing reach with our Facebook page – the number of “likes
on the page increased by 38% over the quarter,” he said.

“A 30kW photovoltaic solar power system was installed at the Bright Sports Centre, with the anticipated annual energy saving of around $9000.

“We continued our work with older residents, holding meetings of the A-team and recognising people who are ageing positively with our Sensational Seniors program.

“Services ran the gamut of age groups this quarter, with the Mount Beauty Skate Event and Arts Workshop for our young people held in April and the Maternal and Child Health Upper Hume regional meeting hosted at the Bright Council Chambers.”

The 2014/15 Annual Report will be presented to Council in October and will include full details of the achievements and challenges for the year.
