Battle of the Bands proves a hit

THE Wandiligong Hall rocked out to the Alpine Battle of the Bands on Saturday, August 18.

Five bands competed for a place in the regional finals.

Local talent included duo Hannah and Robert Merrett and solo artist Miranda.

However, it was hardcore group The Inducer who took out top billing.

Judges (including Stuart Biggins 2011 Australia’s Got Talent finalist) described them as a ‘tight group’, ‘full of energy’ and ‘ready to record’.

The Inducer will go on to compete at the regional finals in Beechworth in November.

After the winners were announced the crowd were treated to some sweet tunes from local muso Nicky Bomba (of the John Butler Trio).

The crowd took to the stage dancing and singing along with Nicky and his band.

The Youth Council events team who organised the night were very pleased with the large turnout and are already planning for future events.

All Alpine events are funded by the FReeZA program, a Victorian Government initiative that provides drug, alcohol and smoke free events for young people.

Nicky Bomba wowed the crowd at the Battle of the Bands at Wandiligong Hall on Saturday, 18 August.
