Wandiligong heritage trail design on display

A grant from Heritage Victoria has enabled members of the Wandiligong community to work with the Alpine Shire Council and signage designers to scope the design of an interpretive trail.

The design for the Wandiligong Heritage Trail includes sites of interest through the township, as well as incorporating the very popular Oriental Crossing Chinese bridge.

When constructed, the trail will enable residents and visitors to take a self-guided journey through the Wandiligong Valley and discover the people, places and events that make ‘Wandi’ such a special place.

Council congratulated the project group for involving a broad range of community members including representatives from the Alpine Park, hall, school, library and nut festival committees, as well as the Wandiligong Preservation Society.

The designs are a concept only and the community now needs to apply for funding to be able to bring this concept to fruition. The Alpine Shire Council will assist the community in sourcing possible grants to manufacture and install these interpretative panels.

Artwork and signage panel content is available for viewing at the Bright Library and for download on Council’s website http://www.alpineshire.vic.gov.au/wandiligong
