| Community grants | | Community groups and organisations provide vital services and support to Alpine Shire residents. Council is committed to supporting these valuable activities by providing a funding opportunity to assist groups in the areas of arts and culture, sport, recreation, events, community capacity building and the environment.
Applications are now open for a share in $80,000 for local community groups to hold events, make capital works improvements or purchase equipment.
Groups may apply for funding to:
* Organise activities specifically for local community benefit – approximately $10,000 allocated; * Make capital improvements for community buildings such as playgrounds and recreational infrastructure – approximately $43,000 allocated; and * Fund community projects of a non-capital nature, such as newsletters, portable barbecues for community events and technology – approximately $27,000 allocated.
Anyone wishing to apply is encouraged to arrange an appointment with Council's Community Building and Engagement Officer, Jan Mock, first to discuss how best to approach the application for their particular project and whether it fits the criteria.
Anyone wishing to make an appointment can contact Ms Mock on 5755 0575 or via email here.
The 2012/2012 Alpine Shire Community Grants guidelines and application form are available online here or in hardcopy at Council’s Bright offices, and Myrtleford, Bright and Mount Beauty libraries.
Applications close 5pm on Wednesday, 31 October.
