Wandiligong Heritage Trail
A grant from Heritage Victoria has enabled members of the Wandiligong community to work with the Alpine Shire Council and IxD designers to scope the design of an interpretive trail.

The design for the Wandiligong Heritage Trail includes sites of interest through the township, as well as incorporating the very popular Oriental Crossing Chinese bridge.

When funding has been sourced to allow construction, the trail will enable residents and visitors to take a self-guided journey through the Wandiligong Valley and discover the people, places and events that make ‘Wandi’ such a special place.

The designs are a concept only and the community now needs to apply for funding to be able to bring this concept to fruition. The Alpine Shire Council will assist the community in sourcing possible grants to manufacture and install these interpretative panels.

For further information, please contact Jan Mock, Community Building Coordinator on 03 5755 0555 or janm@alpineshire.vic.gov.au

Community Building Initiative
The Wandiligong township is part of the Community Building Initiative (CBI).

Each town in the CBI program has developed a Community Atlas containing information including a town profile, asset mapping, results of community workshops identifying the needs and aspirations of the town, what is planned for the town, challenges and next steps as well as a community action plan.

Each atlas also has supporting information regarding demographics and statistical information.

The atlas documents are too large to appear on Council's website.

Full documents including photographs can be obtained by requesting the full atlas series on CD Rom, from the Community Services department on (03) 5755 0555, or by requesting via email.

Statistical data has been summarised from Australian Bureau of Statistics information for each town, creating a township 'demographic profile' .

The Wandiligong profile can be obtained here.
