The Home and Community Care program provides assistance to Alpine Shire residents who are frail or disabled and carers of such people. The aim of the services is to assist people to remain in their own homes as long as is appropriate. Council’s HACC program offers the following services:

| Contacting Us | | The HACC office operates between 8.30am and 5.15pm Monday to Friday and someone is available during these times to answer your call and to help you. After hours you can leave a message and your call will be returned.

| Homecare, personal care and respite care | | | Staff performing these services will undertake household tasks such as cleaning, washing or assisting clients with shopping and banking. It can also include assistance with budget planning and meal preparation. Personal Care provides further services, such as showering, grooming, toileting and medication monitoring. Respite care is available on a regular or occasional basis. Top

| Disability services | | | Disability services offer support for a child or adult of any age living at home who has a disability that prevents them from performing daily tasks without personal assistance or supervision. Top

| Home Maintenance | | The Home Maintenance service offers assistance in maintaining a safe, hazard free environment within the house and immediate surrounds. A limited garden and lawn maintenance service can be provided but this is a not a precision gardening service. Minor handyman services for the installation of minor aids such as hand rails and minor house repairs are also available. But this service is not able to take the place of professional tradespeople.

| Meals on Wheels | | Meals on Wheels are delivered to your home via volunteers. Hot meals are delivered week days and weekend meals are delivered frozen on Friday. Meal changes or cancellations should be made via the Hotline before 9.30am each day. The Hotline phone number is 5755 0142.

| Lunch Club | | The Lunch Club meets fortnightly on a Wednesday in Mount Beauty and Myrtleford and offers culturally appropriate meals in a social environment. It is available to any HACC eligible person in the Shire.

| Planned Activity Group (PAG) | | The Planned Activity Group (PAG) provides a comprehensive range of practical and emotional support services for frail, older people or younger people with disabilities. Held at the Senior Citizens’ Centre in Myrtleford, a meal is provided and there are two sessions per week – Monday and Thursday. Monday’s group primarily caters for non-English speaking clients, but not exclusively.

| Friendly Visiting | | The Friendly Visiting program, available to frail older people who are socially isolated, provides an opportunity to form new friendships and widen interests. Volunteers in this program make a regular weekly visit to the older person. This service operates out of Myrtleford and Mount Beauty.
