Council's 2030 Community Vision
The 2030 Community Vision provides an aspirational target – it talks about the type of Shire the community wants to work toward. The Vision is the Alpine Shire Council’s guiding document. It informs Council’s strategies and plans for the future.

Council Plan
As each new council is elected, it is required to prepare a Council Plan to cover its four-year term. Once set, the Council Plan is reviewed annually. The role of the Council Plan is to outline the broad objectives to be worked toward in the ensuing years.

Alpine Liveability Plan 2009
Council's Liveability Plan 2009 elevates the community's health and wellbeing to core Council business and provides strategies to deliver on a wide range of plans, services and improvements in four key areas:
- Sustainability
- Opportunity
- Community
- Connectivity

Council is required to produce an Annual Report detailing its achievements in program delivery as well as financial management.

Budget 2009 - 2010
The 2009 - 2010 Budget has been developed to achieve the objectives in the Council Plan, whilst maintaining service levels and a reasonable capital expenditure program.

The 2009 - 2010 Budget was adopted at Council's meeting of 4 August, 2009.

Municipal Strategic Statement
The Municipal Strategic Statement (MSS) establishes a vision for the Alpine Shire. It outlines the key strategic land use and development objectives to achieve the vision and includes strategies and related actions to implement the objectives.

The MSS provides the strategic basis for the application of zones and overlays and for the decision making by the Council.

The MSS is subject to periodic legislative review to ensure that it is a dynamic document that responds to the changing needs of the Shire's community.

The Alpine Shire Planning Scheme
The Alpine Planning Scheme is a legal document that sets out the policies, and establishes controls, for the use, development and protection of land within the Shire.

The Alpine Planning Scheme will indicate if a planning permit is required to use or develop or alter land in any particular way.

The Alpine Planning Scheme contains a User Guide that explains how to use the scheme.

Rating Strategy
In 2007 Council reviewed its Rating Strategy which sets Council's future direction in relation to municipal charges, residential rates, rate agreements, special rates, differential rates, farm/agricultural rates and waste management charges.

2009 Community Satisfaction Survey results
Council takes part annually in the Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey which includes responses from 350 residents.

Arts and Culture Strategic Plan
The Arts and Culture Strategic Plan provides a directional framework for Alpine
Shire Council to embrace, develop and further support the extensive arts and
culture activities within Alpine Shire. The Plan was adopted by Council in March 2008.
