Nino Mautone of Eurobin is a retired tobacco farmer who is still active in supplying home-grown produce in his local area.

Cr Mautone has been a member of the CFA for more than 30 years and as well as being vice-president of the North East Multicultural Association, he is the Italian Consul General representative for Alpine Shire, and president of the Carabinieri Association of Victoria. Cr Mautone is also a director of TAFCO Rural Supplies and a member of the Myrtleford Rotary Club.

Cr Mautone’s passion is the environment and he believes we have a duty to keep this part of the country the way we found it or better. Cr Mautone sees continuity and security of water supply for the townships and agricultural pursuits in these valleys as very important.

Jan Vonarx is married with four daughters and eight grandchildren and has lived in Myrtleford with her husband, Les, for the past 34 years. Cr Vonarx was brought up in Nairobi, Kenya and met her husband in Libya, married in England and then lived in Iran for 3 years, finally returning to Australia to raise their children. Cr Vonarx has a Diploma of Management, Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training, Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) and Certificate IV in Leadership.

Cr Vonarx has served on many committees including kindergarten committees, parents’ club at school, President of the building committee of the Myrtleford Childcare Centre, President of the Myrtleford Squash Club and Myrtleford Swimming Club, member of the Alpine Shire Recreation Committee for 10 years and a member of Alpine Health CHAG in Myrtleford since its inception. Cr Vonarx has been involved in the Girl Guide Movement for over 25 years as a Leader, State Trainer, Member of State Council, District Leader and is now the Region Leader for Barree Region which incorporates 11 Districts from Corryong to Yarrawonga.

Family is very important to Cr Vonarx, especially her grandchildren, with whom she spends a lot of time. Girl Guides is one of her passions and keeps her young. In her “spare” time she enjoys reading and taking trips with Les in the caravan.

Narda Cain’s family migrated to Australia on assisted passage in the 1950s. First they settled in Albury until Cr Cain moved to Bright in 1991 to start a business. Cr Cain lives in Eurobin and has also opened a business in Myrtleford in partnership with her nephew.

In order to become familiar with her new home, Cr Cain joined several community committees and has always been involved in issues relating to her surroundings. Cr Cain loves her home and is involved where she can to support local groups and clubs.

In her spare time, Cr Cain enjoys landscaping and gardening and is an avid reader. She also enjoys handcraft of any nature and tries her hand at carpentry every now and again.

Tony Keeble spent his childhood living at Bogong Village and completed Year 12 at the Mount Beauty Secondary College. He then went on to complete a BA in Outdoor Education, a Grad Dip in Education and Masters in Education. Cr Keeble travelled for seven years running a raft company in Canada and being director of mountain management of a ski resort in USA. He is happily married with three beautiful young girls.

Cr Keeble is involved with the primary schools in the Kiewa Valley as the cluster leader. He is also involved in the Kiewa Kids group, an environmental youth group, and the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski club and the Hoppet.

Cr Keeble’s interest include spending time with his family, being in the high country walking, cycling, being with friends and skiing.

Daryl Pearce first lived in Wandiligong in 1973. He has moved away a couple of times to seek other career paths in aviation as an air traffic controller and flying. Cr Pearce has four children and three grandchildren. He worked at the Bright P12 College for seven years and worked closely with welfare organisations for the development of children in the area.

Cr Pearce coached Bright junior football teams for six years and is the Junior vice-president of the Bright Football Club. Cr Pearce is also on the Wandiligong Alpine Park and the Wandiligong Caravan Park committees.

Cr Pearce is passionate about caring for our young people, aged care and the natural environment.

Peter Roper is the fifth generation of the Roper family to farm at Tawonga. Cr Roper is married and has three primary school aged children. His experience includes working for a large regional water authority managing regional water supply catchments, waste water treatment and reuse facilities.

Cr Roper is the Tawonga Primary School Council President, Tawonga CFA brigade member, a member of the Tawonga Reserve Management Committee and a current Board member of the North East Catchment Management Authority.

Cr Roper’s interests include ensuring we leave the environment in good shape for our children, enjoying outdoor and sporting activities with family and friends and reading.

Mark Steven grew up in Falls Creek and owned a business there for a number of years. Cr Steven is currently a television producer working on various productions and news, both taped and live for several television networks. Cr Steven is also into web development as a way of melding the written, spoken and visual messages, with online television.

Cr Steven has a long history of sponsoring young adults who are interested in getting into television or media. As well, he has four years as World Cup / World Championships / Olympics Team manager / coach for the Australian National Freestyle Team and is a former team manager for local ski team, Team Red (Falls Creek).

Cr Steven helped provide media exposure for the hoppet ski race over 12 years, the Tour of Bright and the Three Peaks event over the past two years. His interests include skiing, bikes, kayaking and paragliding.
