Each year on Australia Day, the Alpine Shire Australia Day Community Awards are presented to those persons in the Shire who make us proud to be a citizen of the Alpine Shire, and deserve recognition for their role in our community.

2010 Australia Day Community Awards - nominations now being sought
Council is now seeking nominations from residents of the Alpine Shire for its Alpine Shire Australia Day Community Awards to be presented on Australia Day 2010.

Nominees for individual awards must be a resident of the Alpine Shire.
Award categories are: (click on the category to access the nomination form)
 
 Citizen of the Year
 Young Citizen of the Year
 Cultural Achievement of the Year
 Sporting Achievement of the Year
 Lifetime Acknowledgement Award
 Community Event of the Year
 Community Organisation of the Year
 Local Achiever of the Year (to be awarded and presented in Myrtleford, Bright and Kiewa Valley areas)
 

Nomination forms detailing Award criteria are available from the Alpine Shire Office in Bright, the Customer Service Centres in Dinner Plain, Myrtleford and Mount Beauty or by clicking on the appropriate category in the category list above.

Nominations, which must be submitted on the appropriate form, will be treated in confidence and should be sent by 5pm Friday 4 December 2009 to:

Young Citizen of the Year   Paul Kovacs of Porepunkah for excellence in sporting and scholastic achievements    
Local Achiever of the Year - Myrtleford and District   Rita Sguario for her many years of community and volunteer work    
Local Achiever of the Year - Bright and District   Reg and Elaine Splatt of Wandiligong for 30 years dedication towards the Bright Alpine Climb - Four Peaks Run    
Local Achiever of the Year - Kiewa Valley   Glenn Ramage, for his dedication to music and the Mount Beauty Community Band    
Sporting Achievement of the Year   Bright College Snowsports Race Team for their dedication towards excellence and involvement for young skiers    
Cultural Achievement of the Year   Mount Beauty Secondary College Year 10 Drama students for their road safety play "Its your choice"    
Community Organisation of the Year   Upper Kiewa Valley Cancer Support Group for their care given to patients and their families    
Community Event of the Year   Bright Spring Festival for their 20th anniversary
