Adopted at last night's Ordinary Council Meeting, highlights of the draft budget include a capital works program of over $13 million and a continued focus on long-term planning, economic development and sustainability.
Alpine Shire Mayor, John Forsyth, said despite current financial pressures, Council is proposing to continue to deliver its full range of services.
"We know that many in our community are doing it tough at the moment and that is not unique to Council," he said.
"We are working together in the face of continuing price increases of materials and services to prioritise completion of grant funded projects, the majority of which have a funding deadline of June 2025.
"Delivery of these projects are important so that our community can enjoy modern, safe and versatile facilities."
The proposed capital works program for the upcoming financial year includes the completion of a number of major grant funded projects, including the Tawonga Memorial Hall Upgrade, Myrtleford Memorial Hall Upgrade, Ablett Pavilion Upgrade, Dinner Plain Activation, Nimmo Pedestrian Bridge, Myrtleford Splashpark and Tronoh Dredgehole Precinct Upgrade.
Cr Forsyth said around 30 per cent of the capital works budget has been allocated to renewals across roads, drainage, footpaths, bridges, playgrounds and buildings.
"This increased allocation aims to undertake essential works that enhance the quality and longevity of our existing infrastructure," he said.
In addition to Council's core initiatives, the annual Community Grants and Events Funding will continue to play a vital role in supporting community groups, volunteers, and event organisers.
"This funding is crucial in fostering community spirit and supporting local initiatives that contribute to our collective well-being," Cr Forsyth said.
"Furthermore, in light of recent weather events, we remain committed to delivering flood and landslide recovery programs."
Cr Forsyth said he was looking forward to community feedback on the draft budget, and said Council's focus on community engagement would continue into the next year.
"The successful launch of Engage Alpine in late 2023 has strengthened our commitment to community engagement, providing a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration on issues that impact us all," he said.
"We take great pride in presenting this draft budget to our community, and remain committed to transparency, responsible financial management, and community-driven decision-making."
The draft 2024/25 Budget is now on exhibition for public submissions for 28 days and is available to view online here, or in hard copy at Council's office, located at 2 Churchill Avenue, Bright, and libraries in Mount Beauty and Myrtleford.
