Alpine Shire Council Draft Budget 2019/20

Council has prepared a draft Budget for the 2019/20 financial year and now invites community comment. Any person may make a submission on the draft Budget.

After considering submissions, Council will formally adopt the Budget at a Special Council Meeting on Tuesday, 18 June 2019.

Dinner Plain Special Rate 2019/20

Council is proposing to declare a Special Rate (the “Dinner Plain Special Rate”) for the twelve month period 1/7/2019 to 30/6/2020. The purpose of the Special Rate is to offset the cost of services of special benefit to those who own Commercial / Industrial land within the Dinner Plain Village.

The basis of calculation of the Dinner Plain Special Rate will be 43% of the general rate.
Any person may make a submission on the proposed Special Rate.

After considering submissions, Council will declare the special rate at a Special Council meeting on Tuesday 18 June 2019.

Submissions on the Draft Budget and proposed Dinner Plain Special Rate declaration

Copies of the draft Budget and the proposed Dinner Plain Special Rate declaration are available for inspection at the Council’s customer service centre and libraries in Bright, Mount Beauty and Myrtleford, and by downloading at the links above.

Written submissions must be received by 3pm Thursday 9 May 2019. Submissions can be made in one of the following ways:

All submissions will be considered in accordance with s223 of the Local Government Act 1989. Any person making a submission may request that they or their representative appear in person in support of their submission, before a committee of Council. The request to be heard must be clearly specified in the written submission. The intended date for hearing submissions will be 4pm Tuesday 28th May 2019. Council will contact those wishing to be heard to confirm the date, time and place of the meeting.

Making a submission

Any person may make a submission on the proposals currently on public exhibition.

Submissions are a way in which you can play a role in Alpine Shire Council's decision-making process.

Your submission may be in support of the proposal on exhibition, in opposition to it, support or oppose parts of the proposal, or neutral with the provision of information you would like us to consider.

In some cases, Council holds a Committee of Council in which you can elect to come and present your submission to a panel in person. You can find out whether a Committee of Council is being held for the topic you are making a submission on by clicking on the relevant link in the 'on exhibition' list above.
