$80,000 in Community Grants up for grabs

8 May 2017

Community groups are being given the opportunity to share in $80,000 of funding under the Alpine Shire Council’s 2017/18 Community Grants Program.

“Alpine Shire Council recognises the critical role community groups play in making our Shire a great place to live,” said Elaine Burridge, Manager Economic and Community Development, Alpine Shire Council.

“The Community Grants Program aims to provide community groups with the assistance they need to continue to provide vital services and support to residents.”

Last year, Council contributed a total of $80,000 toward 31 community projects. The funding assisted a diverse range of activities, including first aid training for volunteers, environmental projects, small community events, upgrades to community halls, protective headgear for a small sporting group, disability access to Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre, and a Powers of Attorney project.
Council has again committed $80,000 in 2017/18 to support the valuable work of the community in areas such as arts and culture, sport, recreation, community events, community strengthening, and the environment.

Applications are open until 30 June 2017.
